Role – Breakfast Chef
Location: The Stables at Kindle House

Hours: Full Time & Part Time available
About the Role:
We’re getting ready to open the doors to The Stables Bar & Kitchen – where good food and a warm welcome await.
As part of our opening team, we’re looking for a Breakfast Chef with a calm, confident approach and a genuine love of food. This is your chance to help shape a new kitchen from day one – with a focus on seasonal ingredients, simple presentation, and nourishing dishes that start the day right.
Our menu is light, fresh, and a little bit different.
Whether you’re after a few regular shifts or a full-time position, you’ll play a key role in getting each day off to the best possible start.
Key Responsibilities:
- Opening the kitchen each morning and preparing for a smooth, efficient breakfast service
- Cooking and serving a curated menu of modern, health-led breakfast dishes
- Keeping the kitchen clean, calm, and well-organised throughout service
- Following food safety standards and allergen procedures with confidence
- Supporting occasional brunch events or private breakfast functions
- Working independently during early shifts, and supporting the wider team during busier periods (including lunch service where needed – full training provided)
What we're looking for:
- Previous experience as a breakfast or prep chef in a professional kitchen
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
- A reliable, self-motivated approach with excellent timekeeping
- A keen eye for presentation and a passion for fresh, seasonal food
- A positive, team-focused attitude – especially on early starts
- Availability for weekend and bank holiday shifts

About the Role:
Be part of something new from the very first service.
We’re preparing to open The Stables Bar & Kitchen – a fresh, welcoming space on the riverside in Ystradgynlais, built around good food, thoughtful service, and genuine hospitality.
As our Lead Chef, you’ll play a central role in bringing that vision to life. We’re looking for someone who’s hands-on, highly organised, and passionate about cooking with care. This isn’t just about running the pass – it’s about building a team, shaping a menu, and setting the tone for how our kitchen operates, day in, day out.
You’ll be working with quality ingredients, seasonal menus, and a small team you’ll help to train and support. We expect high standards – in food safety, hygiene, legislation team leadership, and consistency on the plate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day food preparation & service
- Leading prep and service, making sure every plate leaves the pass to a consistently high standard
- Developing seasonal menus and daily specials that reflect The Stables’ values and customer expectations
- Cooking efficiently during busy service, without compromising on portion control or presentation
- Supporting junior team members through their daily prep and end-of-day duties
Kitchen management & compliance
- Ensuring full compliance with UK food safety regulations, including HACCP and COSHH procedures
- Keeping up-to-date documentation (cleaning records, temperature logs, allergen details)
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation across the kitchen
- Managing stock, minimising waste, and ordering quality supplies within budget
Leadership & team development
- Creating a supportive, respectful kitchen environment where people can thrive
- Training and developing staff to grow their confidence, skills, and consistency
- Working closely with front-of-house to ensure a smooth, professional service and excellent guest experience
- Stepping in wherever needed – this is a team that rolls its sleeves up
Collaboration & growth
- Being part of planning meetings, service reviews, and new menu launches
- Supporting events, private functions, and promotional activity where needed
- Helping to shape a kitchen culture that’s built to last
What we're looking for:
- At least 3 years’ experience in a senior chef role (pub, bistro, or casual dining preferred)
- Strong understanding of HACCP, COSHH, and food safety best practices
- Food Hygiene Level 3 (or willingness to complete)
- Highly organised with a calm, proactive approach under pressure
- A team-first attitude and a passion for doing things properly
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
It would be great if you also had:
- Experience with GP margin management, allergen control, and digital stock systems
- Creative flair for writing menus and presenting dishes beautifully
