Maximalism Decor
We’ve been loving this style for years… why shouldn’t the eye have plenty of wonderful things to cast over? To bring this style into home styling - just think, more is more. More colour, more pattern, more shape and more variety. We’ve got a feast of options to create the perfect look!
Unplugging / Offline -
As more of us make a conscious decision to leave our phone, unplug the laptop or turn off the wifi - there are places popping up that encourage us to ‘swtich off’ - detach ourselves from the online world, and reconnect with the present. And what better way to do this than, snuggle down with a throw, surrounded by cushions with a bit of atmospheric lighting and a beautiful scented candle. Try out your very own unplugged chill with whatever calms your mind.Transition -
It can’t just be us making a fuss of the big seasonal events?! (is it??)
This trend is about counting and enjoying the days in a run up to something. In conjunction it’s about transitions between events and seasons and enjoying it for what it is. Advent is being talked about as a period where we love and countdown towards something - yet we rarely do it for other holidays. Why don’t we? Wouldn’t the children just love having the ‘countdown candle’ lit before their birthday too! Think about the period between Christmas and Spring - when it feels sad to totally lose all the decorations, and feeling the need for keeping a wreath - but with less red and gold. A good reference is still having fir branches and cones for winter not just Christmas. It’s ski and snow season, let’s continue to embrace that, with a Spring twist. Just before we all start on the pastels and brights..
Taking care -
Interpret this in as many or few as you’d like. It’s about taking care of yourself, taking care of the earth and taking care of others. Now, we can’t do it all - all of the time and this isn’t about huge actions - it’s small, thoughtful and incremental changes that make things better. It leads perfectly into our final trend - Small things.
Small things
We’ve been part of lots of discussions - about celebrating small moments, finding joy in little things. Enjoying gestures - regardless of the size. If you’re wondering how you can make this happen in your life, we’ve come up with some ways that we’ll be appreciating moments - handwritten cards, little notes with fun or thoughtful quotes - or even a scribbled drawing. If you’d like to formalise the activities a bit more there are note pads, flower presses and books to inspire your acts.
